Houston Cougar Aquatic Sports is currently looking for a punctual, outgoing, and friendly person to work as an Assistant Youth Swim Coach.


Job Description:           

As the Assistant Age Group / Youth Swimming Coach you will aid the Head Age Group Coach in teaching the fundamentals of swimming to youths between the ages of 5 to 14.


Specific Job Tasks:

1) Assist in instructing groups of 5 to 15 youths basic swimming skills and stroke technique. 
2) Do in-water teaching and demonstrations when needed.
3) Share your knowledge and experience of swimming.
3) Help pass out hand-outs / notices to children and parents.
4) Help update COOGS on deck bulletin board.
5) Attend weekly Coaches meetings that last approximately an hour.


Hours:

6 hours a week. Practices go from 5:30 to 7:00pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays only at the University of Houston's Melcher Gymnasium. This is a great job for someone with a flexable schedule and still gives you the opportunity to hold another part time job.


Requirements:

Having a swimming background is a must, either in the form of being a former swimmer, a former or current swimming coach, or a former or current WSI instructor. Coaching experience is also requested. Holding up-to-date CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguarding certifications are considered to be bonuses and are required by USA Swimming to be a certified swim coach. If you do not hold these certifications currently you may still apply for this position.
