 What is Houston Cougar Aquatic Sports?
Houston Cougar Aquatic Sports, also known as COOGS, is a club swimming team that was created by The University of Houston's Women's Swimming and Diving Head Coach, Mark Taylor.
COOGS is designed for swimmers of all ages and skill levels who are interested in pursuing the sport competitively, improving their swimming strokes, or to get into shape and have some fun. We work with each swimmer individual to achieve their goals, whatever they may be.
Our program is divided into five groups based on skill and age ranging from 5 years old to 105.
Register today! You can register at anytime during the season for our club. Please feel free to stop by one of our practices to meet our coaching staff and view our club. Practice time and locations can be found by scrolling down this page.
*The new COOGS season will begin on September 2nd, 2008 and run until August 14th, 2009. Register at anytime during the season!

Location
Close to the Medical Center, Midtown, Downtown,
West U, Rice University, and the Gulfgate area.
Staff
Our staff members are committed, open, and friendly,
and have had very prosperous swimming careers
with an abundance of swimming knowledge.

Our primary coaching goal is to help you achieve your swimming
goals,whether it is to become faster, to work on stroke technique,
or to get into shape.

Practice Times and Locations

Practice Times:
Gold - Beginner Group, ages 5 to 9
The Gold Group practices three times a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:45 to 7:00pm at UH's Melcher Gymnasium.
White - Lower Intermediate Group, ages 7 to 10
The White Group practice three times a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:30 to 7:00pm at UH's Melcher Gymnasium.
Blue - Upper Intermediate Group, ages 9 to 14
The Blue Group practices five times a week, Monday thru Friday from 5:15 to 7:00pm at UH's Melcher Gymnasium.
Red / Masters - Advanced / Adult Group, ages 12 to 105
The Red Group practices six days a week with morning and evening practices. In the morning the Red Group practices Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30am and Saturdays from 7:00 to 9:00am at UH's Melcher Gymnasium. In the evening the Red Group practices Monday thru Friday from 5:00 to 7:00pm at UH's Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.
Lunch Bunch - Adult Lunch Time Swim, ages 18 to 105
The Lunch Bunch practices five days a week, Monday thru Friday from 11:30am to 1:00pm at UH's Melcher Gymnasium.
Directions:
To Melcher Gymnasium
From I-45 exit Cullen. Head southbound on Cullen (a left turn coming from 45 N, a right turn coming from 45 S) and make a right turn onto Holman St. Enter the third entrance on the right hand side, entrance 15 C and you should see the building in-front of you.
From 288 N exit Elgin. Make a right turn onto Elgin and follow that road until Scott St. Make a right turn onto Scott St and follow Scott St to Holman St. Make a left turn onto Holman St and enter the 1st entrance on the left hand side, entrance 15 C and you should see the building in-front of you.
To the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center
From I-45 S exit Spur 5. Follow Spur 5 and make a right at the first light, University Dr. Follow University Dr. and make a left at Calhoun Rd. Park in the Visitors Parking Garage on the right hand side of the road. The Campus Rec Center is the big building across the street.
From I-45 N exit Elgin/Cullen. At the first light after you exit make a left hand turn. You will pass one light, then make a left turn at the second light you come to. Follow that road and make a right hand turn onto, University Dr (the first light). Follow University Dr. and make a left at Calhoun Rd. Park in the Visitors Parking Garage on the right hand side of the road. The Campus Rec Center is the big building across the street.
From 288 N exit Elgin. Make a right turn onto Elgin and follow that road until it forks. Take the fork to the right, which is just after you pass UH entrance 18. Once you take the fork to the right follow that road to University Dr. Make a right turn onto University Dr. Follow University Dr. and make a left turn at Calhoun Rd. Park in the Visitors Parking Garage on the right hand side of the road. The Campus Rec Center is the big building across the street.

Pricing
Gold: Pool Fees = $75 / quarter
Coaching Fees = $80 / month
White: Pool Fees = $75 / quarter
Coaching Fees = $80 / month
Blue: Pool Fees = $75 / quarter
Coaching Fees = $100 / month
Red: Pool Fees = $150 / quarter
Coaching Fees = $120 / month
Lunch: $50 for a 20 session punch card
Bunch
There are discounts on the Coaching Fees if they are paid per quarter or per year. There are no discounts on Pool Fees.
There is a Registration fee of $200 for New Members and $100 for Returning Members for each new season. The next COOGS season begins on September 2nd, 2008 and goes until August 14th, 2009.
